Well, we would like to tell briefly about the M3 “Myths, Magic, Mystery (M3) Adventures”. Myths are like a traditional story consisting of events showing supernatural power by great Buddhist masters, explaining the origins of a cultural practice or supernatural phenomena. Magic is the story and events that have occurred like subduing demons and evil forces in many areas of the land. The mountains of Bhutan are full of strange mysteries like the Yeti that capture the imagination and leave the visitor wondering about the wondrous things they have seen here. It’s like an illusion and suspension.
Bhutan is the small Buddhist Kingdom situated in the eastern Himalayas about the size of Switzerland. It is referred to as Druk Yul (the land of the Thunder Dragon). It lies between China in the North and India in the South. The country maintained a policy of virtual isolation until the early 1960’s. We slowly opened our doors to the outside world and began the process of development. We have a population of approximately 700 000 people. 85% of the population is farmers. The system of Government is a unique form of Democratic Monarchy. All education and medical facilities are free of charge. We have placed great emphasis on the preservation of our environment. At present 72% of the land is under forest cover. It is of prime importance to the people of Bhutan that we preserve our heritage, our way of life and our environment. Because of the country’s extremely high level of biodiversity, Bhutan has been identified as one of the ten global hotspots and a key region on earth for environmental conservation. Bhutan permitted the first tourists to enter the country in 1974. For 15 years, Tourism was managed and controlled by the Bhutan Tourism Corporation, which was a part of the Ministry of Communications. In 1989, the Royal Government privatized the Tourism Industry. This led to the establishment of private travel companies, of which there are currently more than 200 in operation.
Department of Tourism (DOT)under Ministry of Economic Affairs, monitors the Tourism Industry and sets the standard daily tariffs to be charged by the tour operators. 200 US Dollar as SDF revised in 2022 and later revised to USD 100 in Mid 2023. This is to encourage the Royal Government’s policy of “high quality, low volume “tourism. Bhutan Brand in 2022 is “Bhutan Believe” ….. belief in ourselves, belief in work, belief in nature and belief in the future.
